We gather for a Worship Service in-person at the Chapel (2700 W 14th Street) on Sunday, April 28, 2024 – on this fifth Sunday in the Easter season, with the message of Jesus as the true vine, God as the vine grower, and we disciples as the branches.
To join us at the Chapel, buzz Zion Church (Bob Bucklew) from the Directory at the front of the 2700 Building on the campus of San Sofia apartments or enter from the accessible ramp from the rear parking lot. When you arrive, call Bob at 216-375-5323 to open the parking lot gate.
The Sunday Bulletin is attached in PDF format. You may use it as a devotional during the week.
The Focus Scripture Reading is John 15:1-8
In these verses of John 15, Jesus uses the example of being a vine and we disciples are the vine branches. God is the vine-grower, and through Christ we are called to bear fruit. We cannot bear fruit if we do not abide in the true vine, which is Jesus. Branches that do not bear fruit are useless. We must live out our faith, otherwise, we are useless branches.
Sermon/Reflection: “Living On” by the Rev. Scott Rosenstein, based on the reading of John 15:1-8.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration: Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Sunday, May 5 in 2024, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico (it is not Mexican Independence Day), in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. – from History.com
